In accordance with § 9-405 of the Code of Public Local Laws, by December 1 of a year which immediately precedes a year in which the County Commissioners are elected, the Board shall:
Review the salaries set by law for Calvert County officials;
Review state and local laws and the procedures following in Calvert County concerning the inclusion of benefits as part of the compensation of the County Commissioners;
Make recommendations to the County Commissioners concerning the compensation set by law for county officials; and
Make a special recommendation concerning the inclusion of benefits as part of the compensation of County Commissioners.
Composition
There shall be seven members, of which:
Two members shall be appointed by the BOCC
One member shall be appointed by the Legislative Delegation from the 29th Legislative District
One member shall be appointed by the Democratic Central Committee
One member shall be appointed by the Republican Central Committee
One member shall be appointed by the Chamber of Commerce
One member shall be appointed by the Economic Development Commission
At least one member of the board shall have been a member of the previous board.

Timeline
December 2024– The Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) directed staff to convene the Compensation Review Board in accordance with § 9-405 of the Code of Public Local Laws.
April 2025 – Staff presented external agency appointees, and the BOCC appointed its final two members to the Compensation Review Board.
July 2025 – The Compensation Review Board held its initial meeting, established a meeting schedule, and determined the method for gathering feedback from current County officials (via in-person and/or virtual interviews).
October 2025 – The Compensation Review Board completed all scheduled interviews and finalized its recommendations.
October 2025 – The Compensation Review Board presented its recommendations to the BOCC for review and consideration for legislative submission.
