CAASA Community Relations Committee

The Community Relations Committee is committed to increasing the public's knowledge about the drug problem in Calvert County and to encourage the public to take action and participate.

Objectives

The following objectives are aimed at increasing the community's awareness of the extent of substance abuse in Calvert County:

  • Assess current public awareness
  • Develop a pervasive drug awareness campaign
  • Identify and reach target groups
  • Improve and publicize the availability of resources and information
  • Mobilize grassroots involvement by community groups and citizens
  • Provide county youth with more activities

Activities

  • Host parent/student athlete opioid awareness presentations at the high schools
  • Attend Middle and High School Open House events
  • Sponsor National Night Out
  • Sponsor Designated Driver sign-up table at Calvert Marine Museum concerts.
  • Sponsor Community Forums and educational programs.
  • Sponsor Alcohol Awareness Month
  • Attend community events to promote alcohol and drug prevention efforts.
  • Sponsor Designated Driver Month
  • Mini-grant Program
  • Sponsor Red Ribbon Week activities.
  • "Step By Step" 5k Fun Run / Walk - Honoring Mike Blackwell
